GHP Comment:  Tourism businesses can positively respond to these crises by undertaking 3 specific actions

• Climate Change – Adopt a Carbon Reduction Plan that will reduce the businesses carbon footprint by 50% by 2030, or sooner.  Purchase 100% renewable electricity, invest in energy efficiency, train employees in good practice, measure, monitor and report.
• Biodiversity Loss –  Plant native species on own property or invest in local biodiversity projects – buy locally produced foodstuffs – stop buying any foods that are air freighted
• Pollution – Eliminate Single Use Plastics from the business

SDGs can (will) address ‘three planetary crises’ harming life on Earth

The “three planetary crises” of climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution are reinforcing each other and driving further damage to the environment and to our health, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has stated.
