GHP Comment: Good news for the sector – the 5-100% increases in water charges has been deferred until 1st October 2021. BUT – Do not bury your head in the sand – every business should be calculating their expected increase – based on 2019 consumption data – and taking action now to reduce consumption by:
- Having an active leak detection process
- Installing water reduction equipment
- Installing rainwater harvesting for toilet use, where possible
Counties with the highest increases (Over 30%) are: Carlow, Tipperary, Dublin (4), Leitrim, Co Cork, Monaghan, Galway City, Louth, Westmeath, Kerry, Tralee, Kildare.
The last 3 counties have the greatest increases – Kerry – 62%, Tralee 84%, Kildare 96%
