Green Travel

Launched in 2013 Greentravel.ie promotes businesses across Ireland who work hard to be responsible and minimise their environmental footprint and support local enterprise and suppliers whenever possible – especially those who achieve formal environmental certification.

These businesses, often small, are doing fantastic work to attain and progress along various levels of environmental improvement and certification. They have invested time, energy and money to operate responsibly and we feel they deserve recognition and support.

Here in GreenTravel.ie we say that Green Travellers have more Fun because they receive a more authentic taste and flavour of Ireland, and do it in a responsible and sustainable way.

• Accommodation Providers (with an online booking engine for many of them) – Hotels, Guesthouses, Country Houses, B&B’s, Self-Catering, Hostels, and many more
• Transport and Travel providers – Cycle, Buses, Railways – sustainable transport
• Green Tours – tour operators who can organise a Responsible tour/visit around Ireland.
• Shopping – Artisan and craft providers bringing the best of Irish to you
• Destinations – locations where you will find a concentration of responsible businesses – and somewhere you may wish to linger
• Food & Drink – Where to eat and imbibe – featuring the best Irish Artisan producers
• Activities & Attractions – things to do all over Ireland
• Festivals – find a festival/event that has gone “green” as well
• Meetings – for the business traveller concerned about the environment – centres where you can hold a Responsible Meeting/Conference

GreenTravel.ie was set up to provide a link between responsible hospitality and tourism businesses in Ireland and like-minded travellers.  Some online accommodation providers and tourist agencies offer a ‘green filter’ option but there was not one specific website that listed these green businesses together and so we decided to fill that gap.

We are committed to finding and promoting businesses that operate responsibly and at the same time we encourage those yet to adopt a more responsible approach to make changes and come over to the green side!

For you the visitor we encourage you to use this site to find responsible travel & tourism businesses and tell your friends about it.
